After so long a time for these softwares to remain widely used around the world (since 2001 for XP and 2003 for Office 2003), Microsoft has just announced on April 10 that the deadline for these to receive their supports will be April 8, 2014.
Although these two softwares live even longer than some of their younger sipplings such as Windows Me, Windows Vista, it is time for them to say good bye the users sooner or later as a rule. Users are expected to switch to other newer OS such as Windows 7 which is being used widely now, or Windows 8 which will be launched in this fall. The Microsoft newest OS will be the one with the most changes applied, the desktop currently (beta version) is called Metro, a some what touch screen oriented OS. Wheter this will be the final desktop or a certain kind of compromise with the classic desktop will be used we do not know.
